Do We Care?

Do we care or even know? Or are we too caught up in our American life where a one dollar bill means nothing. How can we know statistics telling us that every 4.2 seconds a child dies from a preventable disease, yet often let it go without impact? Preventable. There really is enough food in the world to feed everybody. Malaria can be cured with the medicine and prevented with the use of a mosquito net. Those going blind and dying a year later only need some vitamin A to keep living.While you  inhale a breath of air, they may be breathing their last. Just a dollar a day could even fix that.
  I had a chance to hear and see some things this weekend, some heart wrenching things. At times my mind was reeling, crying out, how can I not care? At other times, almost without even realizing it, I tried to numb my heart or brain,  trying not to think about the implications or else I'd break. Break for those that need hope, love, to know that there is Someone who is there to look out for them, to deliver.

Behold, the eye of the LORD is on those who fear Him,
On those who hope for His lovingkindness,
To deliver their soul from death
And to keep them alive in famine.
Our soul waits for the LORD;
He is our help and our shield.
For our heart rejoices in Him,
Because we trust in His holy name.
Let Your lovingkindness, O LORD, be upon us,
According as we have hoped in You.  ~Psalm 33:18-22

  As I saw a mock Tsunami wave I was blow away by it's overwhelming hugeness. But that's nothing compared to God's desire for His grace to wash crash over all. That He really does bring healing and hope, and that He's willing to do so in such a way that you're devastated-never having to be the same again. He is a God of justice and uses you to display it.

What are you going to do about it?
