A Different Kind of Cinderella Story
As I played "Cinderella" for the jillionth time with the little girl who is in my weekly care, I first contemplated how it is that little girls never get tired of acting out this Disney fairy tale. Second, I started to think that just maybe there is more; maybe it's something ingrained in little and big girls alike, that of being loved by prince charming. We desire someone who pursues, loves us for who we are, that transforms us into beautiful princesses whose dreams come true.
Right about now, you're probably wondering where I'm going to start turning this into a Biblical mater. "She's talking about Disney princesses for goodness sake!" I may be going way off Biblical theology, but strange things enter my brain, so bear with me.
God reveals Himself to far reaches of the world, to people who have never had somebody to physically tell them about God. Could God have put in girls' hearts a desire for Him in a unique way? In such a way that we would know Him when we saw him?
I'm talking about a True love, a different kind of Cinderella story. Of A God who pursues us, who loves us just the way we are-Because He made us that way! Of a God who transforms us into daughters of the King; Princesses He has BIG dreams for.
"Romantic love is blind to everything except what is lovable and lovely, but Christ's love sees us with terrible clarity and sees us whole. Christ's love so wishes our joy that it is ruthless against everything in us that diminishes our joy. The worst sentence Love can pass is that we behold the suffering which Love has endured for our sake, and that is also our acquittal. The justice and mercy of the judge are ultimately one."

We also must be careful what we let, even for a time, take the place of our Prince. Do we let other things fill us up? Do we not feel that we are whole until we have have this or that? Or will we be able to let go and let God? Will we accept the Cinderella story that God has for us?
Yes, you are Royalty, dear Sister.
