Importance of Friendship

Sometimes the need for friendship isn't stressed enough. We all really do have a need for fun, smiles, laughs, encouragement, good talks, long talks, in between talks, talks that are deep, and talks that lead no where in particular. We need friends that will tell it how it is, friends that know how to speak truth in love, friends that give good advice, friends that will pray, because they know or have asked what's going on in our life. We all have a deep desire to share beyond, "Hey! How are you doing? Good, glad to hear it...." It really needs to be more like, " Hey, how's life really going for you?" We need to be willing to listen. Through silence, and when hearts are pouring out. We need to make good investments, because relationships have great value. Our generation especially needs to know that there are those that care, share, and will meet their needs when life is, well, tiresome. Good friends come around, great friends seem to be few and far between. That's not how God intended. It's not until the last few years that some great, godly friends got placed in my life. Friends who were true, friends that were deep, friends who weren't afraid to be real. Who shared stuff they struggled with, and things that they were doing good at. Then, that's when things changed. I had encouragement, an outlet to drain, I felt empowered. We would teach each other things, and build each other's faith up. We got excited, had love poured down on us. It truly was a part in much of my spiritual growth. When we could simply tell what God had been teaching us with no reserves. It's a shame Christians far too often keep that to themselves. Fellowship is important. " Therefore encourage one another and build up one another, just as you also are doing." It truly is something we should be doing. I want to go deeper with many people who have been placed around me. I want to invest, encourage, mentor. Maybe it's time for you to be a friend. Pour into somebody, you might just get filled up yourself. What's God been teaching you? Now, share it!
