Who Am I?

"Who do you think you are?" "I am Hannah*insert full name*." Or sometimes, if I have just corrected an error, it may have been more along the lines of, "Who do you think you are, the *insert verb* Nazi?" These lines would have come from my older brother and I growing up. It was something he said fairly frequently, out of fun primarily. Even today you can catch one of us saying "Who do you think you are?", often with a funny face and pointing or poking. It brings back the good old days.  But seriously, who do you think you are? Identity has great significance. It is common for people to ask, "Who am I?" We long for identity, and if we're not getting it from the right place, things can go terribly wrong. I haven't necessarily struggled with identity issues, but I have often asked, who am I? There were many times that I thought I had no gifts or talents(I still question that), my likes have changed over the years, and I've never had very many hobbies. Sometimes I did/do have a hard time putting my finger on what defined me.

How does God define you, what does He call you? God struck my heart one day, a couple years ago, when I realized that He delighted in me. I had always heard, "delight yourself in the Lord", but I hadn't always heard it the other way around. Then I read Psalm 37:23 and I got it. Not only could I delight in the Lord, But He delighted in ME! In that moment, that's all I needed to know. That's what I knew He called me. I was His Delight. Fast forward to this week, and this time I was reading Psalm 16:3, which not only tells of God's delight towards us, but He also calls us majestic ones. This is the Creator of the universe, and He calls us majestic ones? I think that's pretty great. That got me thinking-what are some other names that He calls us? It must be Valentine's Day in the air, but I've been hearing all sorts of terms of endearment going around. Is it possible that God also has terms of endearment for us, that He has names He likes to call us, or that maybe He calls us names that only He can see; because we can't yet begin to see it in ourselves? Let God define you. Find your identity in Him.

Like Abram who became Abraham, Sarai who became Sarah, Simon who became Peter, Jacob who became Isreal. God saw the good in them, saw what they were going to become even before they could. Is there a name God has given you? Have you been able to find identity in Him? I want you to know that-
YOU ARE:
Chosen
Anointed
Beloved
Adopted
His Workmanship
Majestic
Bought with a price
Redeemed
Dearly loved
A Daughter, a Princess(a son/prince)
A friend
Blessed
His Bride
Victorious
A Light
Set free
Made new
Delivered

I want you to ask Him, "Father, what are your thoughts toward me?"
Let Him show you who you are. Ask Him to help you believe it. Accept it.

Knowing that He has spoken over you

Happy Valentine's Day. You are loved! -hannaH
