Prayer and Expectation.
Through a series of conversations, sermons, convictions, and challenges, I've been thinking much about prayer this week. Really, I've felt ashamed and excited about this subject. Friends, I have realized that there is something that has been missing from my prayer life. Expectation. I have no doubt that I've prayed in faith before, but the expectation was missing. And that's what makes prayer exciting.
The last few months, I've had prayers answered, some that I prayed, some that were just thoughts, and others that I was just plain complaining to God about. Through my seemingly silly desires God has proven Himself faithful. Whether that's been only eating Sunday lunch alone once since my parents left, waiting for five new parents to come into my life, or like yesterday having people show up at my doorstep to help me with my wood. Things like this, have made me excited to pray! I need to pray - and much more often - but also with expectation. Praying, and waiting, expecting and looking, for the answer to my prayers. Knowing that my Creator answers prayer, why would I not be excited to see when it will happen?
And knowing that prayer changes things, that the greatest act of love I can do for others is to pray for them, why not?
I'm out to change my world and I'll start with prayer, hannaH
"In the morning, LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly." ~Psalm 5:3
p.s. I started a prayer journal and I'm super excited to continue to see how God answers each of my prayers! Do you have a prayer journal? How have you set yours up? Thoughts, ideas?
