Count The Cost

Those three little words that You've told me 5 times in the last two weeks has set my mind spinning and my heart searching. They have made me scared, humbled, excited, secure, misplaced. The same thing you told Your followers long ago, the same words you're telling me now. COUNT. THE. COST. You can't give everything, unless you know what you're giving. In those those three words You took my questions, and answered them. It can only mean sacrifice. In those words you've called me to reckless abandon. This giving up of everything-family, friends, home, plans-in our eyes it's often a high cost. "Eternal life is free, but living for Jesus will cost you everything you've got." But He has so much more than you! I want to give up everything to live for You no matter the cost. No matter the cost.
You haven't left me there. You're telling me it's worth it. So very worth it. How big is God?
It's just one of the first steps. It's a life of sacrifice. I have to let go of all that I have, so that You can work through all that I am. “If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even their own lifesuch a person cannot be my disciple. There's no going around that. However, if I give, You promise:  "Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”  Can you imagine God's giving of such a blessing?! So much more than we deserve, or can even handle.

"Let us count the cost of Christ, let us give our very lives.
Let the people be awakened to His call.
God has given us a vision so much greater than ourselves...
We will rise, with a burning heart to serve the living God.
we will run, with a passion for the lost and lonely ones.
we will go, to the trenches of a world that's filled with need.
We will live out the calling of our lives, we will...."
Dear Child, I would not ask this of you unless it was good, and that I go with you.
