Finding What's Lost in the Search
There has been so much going on recently, it has been kinda hard to formulate all of my thoughts into words...
We were lost. I mean search and rescue kind of lost.
It was going to be a good day, little did we know just how much adventure a twenty-four hour day can hold. The thing that got us into trouble was not the fact that we didn't know where we were going, at least to start, our problem was that we did. It was a place most of us have grown to love, a place we had visited quite a few times before. It was going to be a quick hike, we'd be back before we knew it. Or so we thought.
After making it to the top and taking in the view, in our confidence and haste, we wandered. We did not fully realize our mistake until we were on a steep hill, headed who knows where, with darkness quickly approaching. How had we gotten ourselves into this mess?
Isn't that how it can be in life? We get comfortable, we have this idea of an easy trip, we can wander, and we hardly realize it until the going gets tough. We proceed ahead with self-confidence and haste. Always self-confidence and haste. Silly Americans, sorry Christians. "We've got it, we don't have time to wait." We could save ourselves so much trouble if we would just turn back. If we would strive after where God has called us as His disciples, if we would trust Him, and not be so concerned about the rush of our busy lives.
Now, where was I? We weren't exactly comfortable. Though, the fire did help with that. Yes, we had made some mistakes(from which we have learned), we were out in the wilderness, with little food, and most of us without our jackets. But, we ended up having a pretty great night- a little long, but we had sweet fellowship, and have made great memories! We realized our need for humility, our need for God, His presence, constant communication with our Creator. He knew just where we were at. No matter what could have happened.

“Radical obedience to Christ is not easy... It's not comfort, not health, not wealth, and not prosperity in this world. Radical obedience to Christ risks losing all these things. But in the end, such risk finds its reward in Christ. And he is more than enough for us.”God really will guide our path. He has told us this is the way, walk in it. However, if we took an honest look, do we really want to? “My biggest fear, even now, is that I will hear Jesus' words and walk away, content to settle for less than radical obedience to Him. ” Don't get comfortable.

“God actually delights in exalting our inability. He intentionally puts his people in situations where they come face to face with their need for Him.”As you might have guessed, we did finally make it back to our families, friends, and beds. And we realized just how blessed we are.
I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go;I will counsel you with My eye upon you. -Psalm 32:8
