REST.
God has been teaching me how important rest really is. Rest. Oh, how I love that word. You need it, you gotta have it. It's essential. What's even better is that you can receive rest in so many different ways. Whether it's physical, spiritual, or emotional. Or perhaps all three- at once. God was the perfect example when he rested on the seventh day, and just think, he had all that time to spend with US! Later, He knew what he was doing when He told us to rest. He knew our bodies, minds, hearts, and souls needed rest. I'm not necessarily advocating for a Sunday Sabbath day, but I do think it's a marvelous idea. Though really, I don't care what day you rest on, but I think you should. And I don't care how you do it.
A little over a month ago, I could feel life becoming too much, I had no time, no sleep, no non-busyness, and I was spent, exhausted, tired, and miserable. I needed Jesus time, I needed to laugh, I needed joy, I needed a break. And that's what I did. I decided I wouldn't do any homework on Sunday-granted, that means that I often stay up late on Saturdays getting it all done. But that also means I have a whole day to REST! And really, every Sunday that looks different. Some days I read books, some days I see friends, some days I take a nap, some days I go hunting, and two Sundays I've spent driving home from road trips with some of the best people around. Yes, some days I don't get "rest", but I do get just what I need. I can be encouraged, built up, laugh, think, spend the day with Jesus, see beautiful places, build relationship, and take a break, take a breath, and know that my Creator is working all things together for my good.
Pick a day, and put other things aside.
Life can be hectic. Take time to look at the beauty.
Start daily writing out things you're thankful for. It makes life so much more enjoyable.
Let go, and let God.
Be at peace, be still.
Rest in you Creator's love.
Rest in His hope.
Rest in His peace.
Rest in His joy.
Rest in His plan for you.
Rest in knowing that you were made for great things.
Rest in the moment.
Rest. Be filled. Be rejuvenated.
Return to your rest, O my soul,
For the Lord has dealt bountifully with you. ~Psalm 116:7
And He said, “My presence shall go with you, and I will give you rest.” ~Exodus 33:14
