The ground shook.
The earth was dark.
It is finished ( literally paid in full).
The stone was rolled away.
He is risen from the dead.
Forgiveness, eternal life, freedom are given in abundance.
This, this is what all of my faith, my belief, my hope rests on. I will be the first to say I am a terrible Christian. I don't focus on the cross enough. I forget the great price Jesus paid for me, for you. I'm not always nearly as overjoyed, broken, mystified, completely in awe and shock as I should be by what Jesus, the King of Kings, Great I Am, Love itself did for me. Do I need Easter plays, decorations, holidays to remind me of this? I should not, but sometimes I do.
We commit a whole day to celebrate Christ's resurrection, and as we should. But shouldn't it really be a committal of our whole lives. Committing our lives in service to Him who has given all, everything, His own life, endured agony, went through crucifixion, but more than that, is risen and sitting at the right hand of God. And gives you everything without cost, because He has already given everything.
This, this should draw us to Himself. Because when we realize God's power and His great love, we should not be able to help but love Him in return. It is a pull. If you don't want to be like Him and love Him with all you've got, then you haven't realized His power and the love He has for you.
I watched my good friend marry her husband today. At first I thought it was a terrible time for a wedding. The weekend of Easter? But really, it is a perfect time. A bride entering, welcomed to her groom. THAT is exemplary of us, we are welcomed to our groom. We have opportunity to be His bride. He sees us as spotless, showing utmost delight in us. And we can be holy as He is holy. He looks and waits on us because He can't wait to see us enter into His presence. I hope to daily want to love my Lord more and more. To steal from a country song, I want to say I thought I loved you then. I want to daily be blown away by His love, so that as I get to know Jesus better, I can not fathom how good He continually is. I want to continue to know His love better each and every day.
I hope you too can rest your hope and faith on Him who died in your place; to be so overwhelmed by love. And daily be reminded of it. It saddens me that so many only make it into a church or think about Jesus once a year, just because that's the thing to do. There is so much more. He loves extravagantly, look to the cross, and pursue Him with all you've got.
What do I know of Holy?
What do I know of wounds that will heal my shame?
And a God who gave life it's name?
What do I know of Holy?
Of the One who the angels praise?
All creation knows Your name
On earth and heaven above
What do I know of this love?
Happy Easter Friends, whoever you may be. His power and love go with you.
"I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies, and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?”
