2017: Unlimited

I don't remember when I started it, but at some point I started to pick a word for the coming year. A word to pray for, to claim for my life, a word that I feel that Jesus has spoken over my year, my heart. The word for this last year was diligence, something that I truly needed(and still do), something Jesus needed to show me the importance of. One year, I did some reflecting on the last year rather than projecting; it was a year of change. And now as I look into 2017 I can't be more excited for what might come about. It is going to be an unlimited year.

Please, some point in your life year, read through the old testament, it's nuts. God's crazy. This week, I was thinking about what word should be coined for 2017 *insert reading through Numbers*. In Numbers 11 the People are complaining, they have cried out to God because they want meat to eat. God then talks with Moses and tells Him that He is going to give the people meat-- for a month. He actually uses the expression that He'll give it to them so much so that it'll "come out your nostrils and be loathsome to you." Now get this, Moses questions God. He thinks from his human perspective that probably sounded a little like this, "Uh God, there are 600,000-yes, six hundred thousand- Israelites with me, and you're saying you're going to feed them all with meat for a month? I'm not exactly sure there's enough fish in the sea, or even cattle to do that. Have you thought this through??"  Moses is trying to picture how exactly God plans to do what He says He will; he's stuck in his little box, but that's just it, God doesn't fit in our box.

God doesn't fit in our box, and He tells us so. In Numbers 11:23 The Lord asks (moses), "Is the Lord's power limited?" And that's, that's when it hit me that this passage was no longer about Moses or Israel. It's about me. God is asking me, Hannah, is my power limited? Is it sufficient? Do you believe me? He wants me to let Him intercede, will I let Him act on my behalf? He says to us I have more that enough for you, but you have to believe. You have to come to me with open hands...we see later in that same passage in Numbers that the very first time God gives the people meat, they are greedy, they gather way more than they need, and those people were buried there in that same land. It says that a plague came over them because of their greed, which I was struck with the thought that they were greedy because of their unbelief. God had told them He would give them what they needed/wanted, He gives us just what we need for each day.

So that's it, I'm claiming Jesus' unlimited power over 2017. I don't need to be worried when I look at my shrinking bank account, I don't need to be anxious when I don't know where His plans lead, I don't need to be concerned when people question the path I'm taking, I don't need to be fearful when looking into the coming year. As Psalm 65:11 says,"You have crowned the year with your bounty, and your paths drip with fatness." Jesus has already spoken over my year and will place His bounty and abundance, His unlimited power in it. Just as He did long ago, He will give me just what I need for each new day. In return, He asks me to believe in what He says He'll do. As I keep asking for more of Him, I can't wait to see what He'll do!

Welcome 2017, my unlimited year!

Happy new year, friends!
With much love and expectation,
