Abandon Discovery
That feeling that wells up
Similar to the urge
Of cartwheels and open paths
An urgency to let loose
An action that could be tamed
But the aftermath of joy
Flooded heart and face
Like the blood that surged to my head
Now I'm seeing stars
A rush of life
Of being yourself
To be given over to it all
To then realize you've done
The abandon
And no graceful way to come back to earth
We're taught how to tuck and roll
To brace ourselves
Perhaps there's no need to learn such novelties
If the novelty was fully embraced
There's things that leave me tired
But not of being stuck in trees
But not climbing those trees
To never attempt
To walk on by
Stride through life with eyes on your feet
How we often shut down ideas
Over rationalize
When adventure awaits
There's intrigue in the discovery
There will be things we remember
Or never experience
If we suppress it
We may forget who we are
I want to use my sense
Not common
To breathe, feel, see, hear, taste
And know
That it is so very good
