Why her?
The angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary; for you have found favor with God."
Now, Mary was the chosen one of God. Have you ever thought that God could have chosen somebody else? The mother of Jesus obviously had to have some criteria. She would have had to been from the tribe of David, a virgin, but what other kind of specifications was our Savior looking for? There could have been lots of other young ladies that would have fallen into those categories. Why Mary?
I know that she must have been tender-hearted, willing for her Creator to work in her life, and seeking after the Messiah. But. If today was the day that God sent His beloved Son into the world, would he have chosen me, would he have even considered me? Am I someone God is going to use? Can I be found saying:
"My soul exalts the Lord...For the Mighty One has done great things for me; And holy is His name. AND HIS MERCY IS UPON GENERATION AFTER GENERATION TOWARD THOSE WHO FEAR HIM. HE HAS FILLED THE HUNGRY WITH GOOD THINGS...."
May we be found faithful by God.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! I hope it was blessed. See how sly I was getting this posted ONE minute before midnight? Pretty tricky.
*note: I was not the one who was the first to think about this. I read a post last week on another lady's blog(whom I don't know, but found her through a friend) and she probably said it much better than I , but I wanted to write it out for myself. So, by all means read it there and give her the credit. :]
