Give of Your Time.
Time is a funny thing. We can't posses it, or buy it; yet we're always trying to save it, count it, schedule it....
Mostly, I'm good at wasting time, being busy with my time, and end up not giving much of it away. Since when did it end up being all about me? I have to get this done, accomplish this task. Unfortunately, it's not just me. We get so focused on ourselves. Our culture has become fast-paced and busy, and technology probably has not helped much. We live for the end of the day, and start it all over agian? When was the last time someone really believed they could come to your home, just stop by just because? Or do many often feel like they have to be scheduled into your week..on Tuesday at 3 0'clock, for an hour.
I want to live life with one another. My one desire is to have a home that anyone, from anywhere can stop by, at anytime. I mean it. I don't know how I get people to believe it, though. It's so against our culture, and Christians are just as bad as anyone else. One word I have for this year is 'intentional.' I have to be intentional about what I do and say, or else everything just slips away. As I've stated before, we've become too comfortable. Yes, we may go to church, youth group, or Bible studies, but do we live life together? Do you know what our brothers and sisters are struggling with? Have we had a genuine conversation, laughed with, or worshiped together recently, just because we can? Have we cried over a cup of coffee or tea? Have you built up one another's souls through the sharing of scripture? Have we prayed? Do we support, and get excited for each other? It's time to defamiliarize ourselves with all that is familiar about what we have been doing with our time and truly give it to one another: without looking at your watch and planning when you have to be to the next thing. To instead just stop. Live life with. Give your time to God. What would He be doing with it? Is there things that are consuming your time that shouldn't? Should you be giving more time to people? Let's love with all of our time, sacrifice our lives. Die to self.
What do you think? What are the steps that we have to take so that we can live life together, serve together? Seriously. I want to hear, because it's going to have to be intentional.
